    Basketball
    n Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp is by invitation only for boys and girls ages 10-19.
    Players from 50 states and 10 foreign countries attended the 2007 camp. Camp locations include: Champaign, Ill., Prescott, Ariz., Thousand Oaks, Calif., Lebanon, Tenn., Commerce, Texas, Gainesville, Ga., Babson Park, Fla., Glassboro, NJ and Blacksburg, Va.     n The Skywalker Basketball Academy will start Aug. 24 and run through Sept. 29 at the Joplin Boys and Girls Club. The session runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for five consecutive Saturdays and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for five consecutive Sundays.     Baseball
    n The KSN?TV Tournament will be held Sept. 6 at The Four Seasons Sports Complex in Joplin. The tournament is for 9 and under through 14 and under teams.     n Coast to Coast baseball would like to invite local players, ages 10-18, to one of our upcoming tryout events. At the tryout, our staff will evaluate your skills in four areas, hitting, fielding, arm strength and speed. Players who are accepted to the program may choose to represent the USA in competition in Puerto Rico, or work with top college coaches and pro scouts in our Florida camp and showcase event held at a MLB spring training complex. In addition to the tryout, a three hour hitting camp will be held the same day. The goal of the camp is to help players improve hitting fundamentals as well as their mental approach at the plate. The event will be held at the Mac-N-Seitz Indoor Baseball facility in Kansas City, Mo., on Saturday, Sept. 6. The tryout is at 10 a.m. and the hitting camp follows at 2 p.m.
    The tryout cost is $25 and the hitting camp cost is $50, or, to attend both events it is $65.

    n The Southwest Missouri Soccer Club, located in Granby, will have the fall season start on Sept. 13 and concludes on Oct. 18. Sign-ups are from now until Aug. 23. The cost is $25 per child.     n Fall soccer sign-ups for Pre-K through 12th grade are now being taken at Neosho Rec Center, 418 Fairground Rd., until Sept. 5. Sign-ups are from??Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The cost per child is $25. The season begins Sept. 27. Players must be 4 years old when the season begins. There will be a 4-5 year old league; 6-7 year old league; 8-9 year old league; 10-11 year old league; 12-13 year old league and 14-and-up league.     n Registration has started for the Boys and Girls Club of Joplin’s fall soccer league and will run through Sept. 15.
