Dear Editor,

Once again, the revisions of Chapter 405 will be on the agenda of the city council. It is to be a discussion item, tabled for more review or voted on.

My choice would be to table it for review. There has been a lot of input from various sources with several revisions. As was mentioned to the council at the last meeting (Jan. 20), there is opposition to the changes 405 makes.

Why is there still opposition after many changes? It seems there are issues that concern the citizens and the citizens make the city of Neosho. Let’s encourage the council to “table for review” 405 until these issues are more clearly spelled out and the citizens heard from.

Would it not make more sense to “work” out issues before passage rather than appeal them after?
If I remember correctly, the mayor said there was no rush to pass it. He said in the last meeting “In the near future we are going to have to pass something…” that is fine because we need change to be progressive and make Neosho better. But, do we need all the changes in 405 to keep Neosho progressive? How do some of the changes make Neosho progressive and run more efficiently?
Has Neosho been running inefficient up to now? If it’s not broken, do we have to fix it?

As citizens, let us encourage 405 to be tabled. Call, e-mail the council members or be at the meeting (on Feb. 3) to let the voice of the citizens be heard.

Sincerely,

Ray Prihoda,

Neosho
