Dear Editor,

As a Missouri pharmacist, I'm so grateful to Congressman Roy Blunt (R-MO) for looking out for the profession of pharmacy and Missouri patients when debating the Economic Stimulus Bill on Capital Hill.

The original bill would have basically prohibited pharmacists from sending our refill reminders to patients without getting the patient's permission beforehand. Patients in this country already have a difficult enough time keeping up with their prescriptions, and don't need government to stand in the way of their health care.

Congressman Blunt's amendment will allow pharmacists to continue communication with patients, without additional "red tape," in order to reduce medication errors and improve patient safety.

Thank you, Congressman Blunt, for looking out for Missouri — and America's patients.

Sincerely,

Tim Mitchell, RPh
