Earl Stipp, 89, Neosho, died Dec. 26, 2009, at Medicalodge in Neosho, following a lengthy illness. 

Earl was born Dec. 6, 1920, near Ritchey, the son of Tom and Elizabeth (Patton) Stipp. He graduated from Granby High School in 1938 and served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Earl had worked as a guard at Camp Crowder, for the Civil Service at Rocketdyne and as a locomotive engineer for Burlington Northern Railroad from 1968 until his retirement in Aug. 1991. He was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ, where he had served as a deacon for many years and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. 

Earl married Bobbie  Bowers on April 7, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 1990. 

He married Nadine Ferguson Aug. 11, 1991, and she survives.  Additional survivors include four children, Ray Stipp and wife, Alma, Neosho, Tom Stipp and wife, Marsha, Lebanon, Mo., Tim Stipp and wife, Benna, Granby, and Pam Babb and husband, Pete, Neosho; a step-son, Bill Ferguson and wife, Sherrie, Eldon, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. 

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clovis Stipp and Dwight Stipp; and a sister, Agnes White. 

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hillcrest Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Hazel Green Cemetery and grandsons, Wade Stipp, Jason Stipp, Joshua Babb, Nathan Babb, Adam Stipp and Will Ferguson will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
