Edith Whitman Stice, 94, Neosho, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Medicalodge, following a lengthy illness. 


Edith Whitman Stice, 94, Neosho, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at Medicalodge, following a lengthy illness.
 
Mrs. Stice was born May 14, 1916, in Newton County, the daughter of Nathaniel and Josephine Chancellor Whitman. She was a lifelong area resident and had worked in the bakery of Consumer’s Grocery Store, retiring in 1983, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.  

Edith married Theodore Stice on Oct. 12, 1937, in Arkansas and he preceded her in death in May 1983.  
She is survived by a daughter, Margie Doughty and husband, James, Neosho; a brother, Darrell Whitman, Neosho; two grandchildren, Michael Doughty, Joplin, and Quincy Nohra, Dallas, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Seneca and Maddie.  

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gill; and two brothers, Paul Whitman and Carroll Whitman.  

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Dr. Jerry Seigel will officiate. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, south of Neosho.  

Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. today and the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Wednesday until service time.
