The McDonald County Post 392 American Legion team swept visiting Everton Monday, 13-1 and 10-0.

McDonald County put steady numbers on the board every inning  — posting a win in both games.

In game one, a five-run first set the stage for the win.

Charlie Bridenstine had a two-run single, while Kyle Smith (single) and Bryan Burnett (fielder’s choice) brought home other runs. McDonald County added three runs in the second and fourth inning.

Alex Arntfield hit a two-run double and Burnett added an RBI triple in the third inning. In the fourth, Dakota Acuff hit an RBI single. Jeb Clark singled home a run, and Burnett added a sacrifice fly.

Dusty Stites earned the win, striking out 10 in five innings of work.

Acuff tossed the final two innings, fanning a pair.

Post 392 (15-6 overall, 5-2 in District 15 play) got early runs again in game two. Charlie Bridenstine’s fielder’s choice brought home a run in the first inning.

Smith hit a two-run homer and Kaleb Schlessman’s RBI single accounted for another run in the second inning.

Schlessman hit a grand slam to highlight a six-run third inning.

Trent Cook earned the win, striking out seven in three innings of work. Smith relieved for an inning, striking out two. Schlessman closed the shutout by pitching the fifth and striking out the side.

McDonald County plays at Aurora Wednesday, starting at 6 p.m.
