  • Margaret Marion, 97, Stark City, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Medicalodge of Neosho, following two years of declining health.

  • Margaret Marion, 97, Stark City, died Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at Medicalodge of Neosho, following two years of declining health.
    She was born March 6, 1915, in Rocky Comfort, to Henry H. and Ida (Rosenbum) Long.
    A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Marion was an avid quilter and gardener. She was a member of the Wanda Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Wanda Willing Workers and the Women's Missionary Society.
    Margaret married Chalmer Marion, Sept. 20, 1941.
    He preceded her in death Aug. 27, 1997.
    She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Curtis and Patty Sue House.
    She is survived by three children and their spouses, Dale and Donna Marion, Neosho, Sharon and Ed Miller, Pierce City, and Mary C. Crane, Parsons, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel Howes, Bettendorf, Iowa, and Rhoda Chapman, Concord, Calif.
    Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, at Wanda United Methodist Church, with Dr. Paul House officiating. The casket will be closed at service time and will remain closed. Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery, grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
    Friends may call at the funeral home, in Neosho, from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday.
