Oma Maxine Bayliff, daughter of Rev. Riley and Mary (Klopfenstine) Shepherd was born Nov. 4, 1927, in Racine, and passed from this life on Aug. 25, 2012 at age 84.
Maxine, as she was known to friends and loved ones, had worked for Boeing Aircraft, Wichita, Kan., as a riveter. She also had a highly successful career selling Avon products. She won many honors having had a wonderful relationship with her customers.
On Jan. 3, 1961, Maxine married Leon Bayliff; he was a treasured husband and a wonderful father to her three sons.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband; three sons, Joseph Wayne, Robert Duane, Ronald Edward; her parents; four sisters, Josephine Shepherd, Lucy Jean White, Madeline Scott, Joy Brownell; one brother, Riley Shepherd.
Left to mourn her passing are two sisters, Ina Lee Johnson, of the state of Kentucky, Mary Nadine Bates, rural Racine; a host of nieces and nephews; many friends.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. today, Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, and visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, at Burkhart Cemetery, Racine, with Minister Jeff Martin officiating.
