  • Sammy L. Maples, Neosho, died Aug. 30, 2012, at Seneca House, Seneca, following several years of failing health.
    She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Rocky Comfort, to John Nathanial (Sam) and Margaret May (Smith) McBee.
    A lifelong resident of Neosho, Sammy was a homemaker, worked at Lindsay’s Dept. Store, Neosho, and Johnston’s True Value, also in Neosho. She enjoyed baking, loved to embroidery, and was a member of the Neosho Area Widow to Widow’s Club.
    Sammy married Samuel Claude Maples on July 28, 1942.
    He preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1972.
    She is survived by two children and their spouses, Carol and Sonny Southern Neosho, Claudia and Doug Rousseau Grove, Okla.; one brother, Roy Dale McBee Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
    The body will lie in state from 2-7 p.m. Monday, at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho, and the family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at IOOF Cemetery, Neosho, with Rev. Dr. Bill Doubek officiating.
    Arrangements are under the direction of Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
