  • The Neosho Rotary Club will hold their annual chili feed next Friday, Sept. 21, prior to the Neosho High School’s homecoming football game.
The feed begins at 5 p.m. in the Neosho High School Cafeteria and is planned to last until 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are $5, and attendees are also welcome to pay at the door.
Mike Mitchell, Rotary member, said the chili feed has become a tradition for the club, and has been held for more than 20 years.
“It’s almost always been on football homecoming,” Mitchell said.
Though, he noted some years the tradition was changed, and the chili feed was held in conjunction with Neosho High School’s basketball homecoming instead.
Mitchell said this year the group has added a new twist to the event, offering eight dogwood trees as a door prize.
The club, known locally for their annual dogwood tours each spring, will also be planting the trees for the winners this spring.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to win mulch as a door prize.
Jim Lowans, Rotary Club president, said the event serves as one of the club’s major fundraisers for the year.
Lowans said the homemade chili usually draws more than 100 people to the event.
