Donald Gene Littlefield, 77, Carthage, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, at his home with his family at his bedside.
Donald Gene Littlefield was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Shattuck, Okla., the son of Keton Felix Littlefield and Leta Mae Thrush Littlefield. Donald was a graduate of Stella High School, class of 1952, Stella. After high school graduation, he moved to Wichita, Kan., and worked at Boeing for seven years.
He married Vera Kimbrough on Nov. 25, 1954; she survives.
They moved to the Stella area in 1959, where he was a farmer for many years raising poultry, cattle, field crops and hay. In later years he was a gardener and loved raising giant Dahlias. He was a member of the Stella Methodist Church before moving to Carthage in 2005 when he became a member of the Carthage United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Vera of the home; a daughter, Stephanie (James) Lee, Carthage; a son, Timothy (Mary) Littlefield, Stella; a brother, Jimmy (Barbara) Littlefield, Neosho; a sister, Margie Tucker, Carthage; four grandchildren, Andrew (Amelia) Littlefield, Jackson, Miss., Amanda (Ryan) McCluskey, Moberly, Mo., Elizabeth Lee, Bella Vista, Ark., and Joanna Lee, Carthage; one great grandson, Miles Littlefield, Jackson, Miss.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Union Cemetery, Stella. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday in the Stella United Methodist Church, Stella, followed by a service at 3 p.m., Thursday, at the First United Methodist Church, Carthage. Rev. James Lee will officiate each service. Memorial gifts are suggested to the United Methodist Church, Stella and the First United Methodist Church, Carthage.
