  • KILLDEER, N.D. (AP) — Another landslide has hampered a highway reconstruction project in western North Dakota.
Last year, the state Transportation Department spent $4.3 million to twice repair landslide damage that shut down state Highway 22 north of Killdeer. The highway was torn up this past spring for a 7.5-mile, $18.3 million upgrade, but another landslide in September has added about $500,000 to the cost.
Job superintendent Mike Schriner tells The Bismarck Tribune that crews are tearing out about a mile of new construction and moving the road east 60 feet from the area that's sliding. He says his company will finish the job next year.
