  • Coming off a successful Neosho Tournament, the Neosho volleyball team, showing signs of improvement, lost a close one at Carl Junction on Monday, 25-21, 25-18.
    The Neosho junior varsity fell 25-11, 25-14. The ninth grade team also fell 25-11, 25-14.
    Reba Potts led the varsity squad with three kills. Morgan Rogers had two service points and two blocks. Tori Eads recorded an ace and eight assists. Sam Duke had 13 digs.
    The first set was close through its entirety. Neosho, serving first, took an early lead in the first set before the Lady Bulldogs came back late and held on.
    Monday’s action came after the Lady Wildcats played four games on Saturday at the Neosho Tournament. There the Lady Wildcats went 2-2, falling in the tournament to the fourth-seeded Carthage Tigers 25-14, 25-17 to end their day.
    Neosho opened Saturday with a win over Lamar 25-16, 25-16. The Lady Wildcats then took on the eventual tournament champions, Logan-Rogersville, and fell 25-15, 25-12, before rebounding to drop Miller 25-22, 25-20.
    “It was a good weekend for us,” Neosho coach Kerri Roy said. “It was a good confidence booster. I’m very pleased with how they’re playing.”
    The Lady Wildcats (5-18-4 overall) travel to Nixa for a 5 p.m. tilt today.
