  • After coming back from a deficit in the second set, Neosho couldn’t quite finish the job as Nixa held on to defeat the Lady Wildcats 25-15, 25-23 in Tuesday night volleyball action.
    In the second set the Lady Eagles jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Lady Wildcats got to serve. Once they had the serve in their favor, everything started breaking for Neosho and they came back to close the gap.
    Nixa would later stretch the advantage back to 23-19 before the Lady Wildcats re-gained the serve and tied the match 23-23. But the Lady Eagles would pull ahead 24-23 when a tipped volley fell beyond Neosho’s reach and then put the game away on serve to win it.
    Matty Liedtke led with two aces and three kills. Morgan Rogers also had two aces. Reba Potts finished with eight digs. Tori Eads contributed eight assists.
    The Lady Wildcats (5-19-4) entertain Branson at 5 p.m. Thursday at NHS.
    Nixa won the junior varsity game 25-10, 25-9. The Lady Eagles also prevailed in the freshman match 25-15, 25-17.
