Mrs. Dorothy Louise Brodie, 89, of Goodman, departed this life on Thursday evening, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Anderson after months of declining health.
Dorothy entered this life on Sept. 9, 1923, in Goodman, to the late Lemuel and Letha (Stillins) Buzzard. She was a lifelong resident of Goodman. On Dec. 28, 1941, in Pineville, she was united in marriage to Joseph Raymond Brodie and to this union four sons were born. Dorothy worked in various places but her main focus was being a devoted wife and homemaker. She was a founding member of the Full Gospel Church in Goodman. She enjoyed working in her flowerbeds and preparing home-cooked meals for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 67 years, Joseph Raymond Brodie, on June 18, 2009; two sisters, Almeda Wimpey and Pauline Buzzard; and a brother, Bill Buzzard.
Dorothy is survived by four sons, Darrel Brodie and wife, Lil, of Bronson, Texas, Everette Brodie and wife, Jan, of Stark City, Larry Brodie and wife, Jeanette, of Goodman, and Johnny Brodie and wife, Ramona, also of Goodman; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brodie are 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Mark Sumler officiating. Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Goodman. Her grandsons and great-grandson will honor her life by serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel.
