The Neosho boys cross country team took top honors at the Neosho Cross Country Festival at Lakes Cross Country Course on Saturday.

The Wildcats won the 5K run with a team score of 33 points followed by Jay (Okla.) 37, Republic 75, Sarcoxie 80.

Crane’s Thomas Chabreck was the individual winner in the boys 5K with a time of 17:35. Neosho’s Garrett Wood finished second in 18:04 and Chance Burr took third in 18:17. Others for Neosho were: 8, Carter Hickman 18:56; 10, Cole Bishop 19:18; 19, Kobi Miller 20:27; 22, Cameron Guillion-Langley 20:55; 26, Adam England 21:52.

Republic defeated Jasper 27-28 to win the girls 5K.

Neosho’s Amber Bates topped all individuals in a time of 22:21. Darina Baramabyeva took fourth in 24:06. Aly Prock finished eighth in 25:29. Jordan O’Hara ran in 34:08 for 19th.

Neosho’s junior varsity boys scored 15 points. Kris Avandano won the 5K in 21:25 followed by: 4, Thomas Vernon 22:21; 5, Jordan Huggins 22:44; 6, Lyle Jackson 23:41; 7, Niko Russell 23:43; 8, Jordan Wirth 24:41.

The eighth grade boys topped Jay 44-49. Joby Paul was second in 9:47 followed by: 7, Tyler Burr 10:26; 8, Trenton Cook 11:06; 10, Adam Haddock 11:16; 15, Wyatt Dunbar 12:26; 16, Greyson Lamp 12:31.

The seventh grade boys scored 15 points in the 1.5 mile run. Their individuals were: 2, Sam Townsend 10:06; 6, Gerardo Chairez 11:22; 7, Gant Scudder 11:51; 8, Jones 11:51; 10, Nate Williams 12:18; 11, Mikel Tandy 12:39; 13, Caderson Helgen 13:02; 14, Nathan Bunch 13:40.  

The eighth grade girls scored 15 points as Regan Rogers won the 1.5 mile event in 10:55 and Anne Vernon finished second in 11:25. Others for Neosho were: 4, Katelyn Lowe 11:28; 8, Grace Box 13:33; 9, Kiana Hutchens 13:36; 10, Opan Jackson 14:50.

Results for the seventh grade girls, who also scored 15 points in the 1.5 mile, were: 1, Katy Bohannon 12:48; 2, Heather Bruce 12:53; 3, Leah Ewing 13:10; 4, Chloe Auch 13:15; 5, Chloe Baker 13:18; 7, Lizet Artega 14:02; 10, Katelyn Lentz 15:06.

Seneca’s Luke Winscott took ninth place in the 1 mile elementary race in 9:26.
