  • The Seneca Indians and East Newton Patriots swept up a ton of honors as the 2012 Big 8 All-Conference football teams were announced today.

  • The Seneca Indians and East Newton Patriots swept up a ton of honors as the 2012 Big 8 All-Conference football teams were announced today.
    The most decorated of the bunch was Seneca junior Braxton Graham, who earned first-team honors at all-purpose back and returner, and second-team as a defensive back. A host of other Indians made the list. They were: Brett Roark, senior, second-team tackle; Devin Madison, junior, second-team guard; Mac Yust, junior, second-team center, second-team defensive end; Jalen Skaggs, senior, first-team wide receiver, second-team defensive back; Chance Smith, senior, second-team wide receiver; Payton Rawlins, junior, second-team quarterback; Marty Mailes, senior, second-team running back, second-team linebacker; Montana Cooper, senior, second-team defensive tackle; Kaden Schrader, senior, second-team linebacker; Dalen Merriman, senior, honorable mention linebacker; Kyler Ng, senior, honorable mention defensive back.
    Those who made the team for East Newton were: Clint Bray, senior, honorable mention guard; Brandon Abbott, senior, honorable mention wide receiver; Ian Plemmons, senior, honorable mention running back; Alex Sheppert, senior, honorable mention defensive end; Rocky Liveoak, senior, second-team linebacker.
    The Offensive Player of the Year award went to Lamar’s Jared Beshore. Defensive Player of the Year went to Cassville’s Hayden Prater. Coach of the Year is Cassville’s David Large.
