  • Pair of Wildcats going to state

  • Three Neosho cross country runners competed at the Class 4, Sectional 3 championships at Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Camdenton on Saturday.
    After a solid day from all three, two Wildcats are advancing to state as Garrett Wood will represent the boys and Amber Bates represents the girls.

  • Three Neosho cross country runners competed at the Class 4, Sectional 3 championships at Ha Ha Tonka State Park in Camdenton on Saturday.
    After a solid day from all three, two Wildcats are advancing to state as Garrett Wood will represent the boys and Amber Bates represents the girls.
    Wood medaled the event with a 20th place finish in 16:27. Teammate Chance Burr missed qualifying, though he also had a good day, with a 40th place time of 17:03.
    Bates finished in 25th with a time of 20:06.
    Wood and Bates will compete in the MSHSAA State Championships at Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City on Nov. 3.
    Meanwhile, the cross country team held their annual awards banquet on Wednesday at NHS. Results from the ceremony are as follows:
    Letter winners: (Seniors) Karina Barambayera (1), Caleb Sprenger (1), Wood (4); (juniors) Sydney Anderson (2), Bates (2), Kris Avandano (2), Cole Bishop (2), Lyle Jackson (1), Niko Russell (provisional); (sophomores) Aly Prock (provisional), Jordan O’hara (1), Anna Ivey (provisional), Carter Hickman (2), Adam England (2), Kobi Miller (2), Cameron Guillion-Langley (1), Thomas Vernon (provisional), Jordan Wirth (provisional); (freshmen) Chance Burr (1), Jordan Huggins (provisional).
    Further winners as selected by their teammates were: (Rookie of the Year) Barambayera and Burr; (most improved) O’hara and Miller); (most valuable squad member) Bates and Wood; (team captain) Anderson and Wood.
    The junior high awards for seventh and eighth grades were: (MVP) Joby Paul and Regan Rogers; (Rookie of the Year) Sam Townsend and Katy Bohannon.
