Newton County Sheriff’s Department deputies seized 30 pounds of marijuana at 4 p.m. Friday at 12502 Gateway Dr., Neosho.
“We responded to the animal clinic at 12502 Gateway Drive. There, deputies conducted a search of the residence and found it in one of the bedrooms; we found more than 30 pounds of marijuana,” Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said. “There is also a set of scales, bags for packaging, some pipes, and a marijuana grinder, to grind up the leaves.”
According to Copeland, the address is attached to the business and the residence.
Deputies were alerted to the address from another arrest in a neighboring county.
“There had been an arrest in McDonald County and some information from that arrest led us to the clinic,” he said. “At that time, we arrested Jared Jay, a 36-year-old male who resides at that residence and he is being held in the Newton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond for distribution of a controlled substance.”
The sheriff did add it was the first “information that we have had about marijuana being there.”
