Funeral services for Martha J. Ethridge, 69, Irmo, S.C., will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Irmo with entombment to follow at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (nationalbreastcancer.org) or the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Ethridge was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Neosho, and passed away on Nov. 1, 2012.
She was the daughter of the late Ralph Oxford and Edith Mildred Oxford. Mrs. Ethridge was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Irmo, where she was also the church secretary prior to retiring. She also worked at the Virginia Baptist General Board as a secretary. She loved playing Scrabble and doing puzzles. Mrs. Ethridge was one of ten children.
Mrs. Ethridge is survived by her husband, Robert Ethridge, Irmo; sons, Chris Ethridge and Greg Ethridge; granddaughter, Emma Ethridge; sisters, Pat Bly, Mary Long, Frances Sloan; brothers, John Oxford, Harry Oxford and Dale Oxford; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ethridge was predeceased by her sister, Grace Boul; and brothers, Ralph Oxford and Jerry Oxford.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Robert Smith, his assistant Nicole Hendry, nurse Pam Posey, and the entire staff of South Carolina Oncology Associates for the care and support they provided to Marty for many years.
