Northeastern Oklahoma A&M freshman, and Neosho native, Alex Wise has signed to continue his baseball career with Division-I Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. for the 2014 season.
Wise, a 2011 NHS graduate, will begin his freshman season with the Golden Norse this season after leaving Missouri State last season to join Roger Ward’s program in Miami.
A 6-foot-1, 190-pound pitcher and infielder, Wise should play a key role at both positions for the Golden Norse this season before joining Ryan Folmar’s team in 2014.
A standout in basketball, baseball and football at Neosho, Wise, the son of Phil and Tana Wise, initially attended Missouri State to play basketball and baseball as a walk-on before electing to instead attend NEO.
At Neosho Wise earned second-team all-conference honors as a sophomore before picking up first-team all-conference and all-district honors as a junior.
As a senior he was a unanimous first-team all-conference pick after going 3-3 with a 3.00 ERA on the mound with 43 strikeouts, and while also compiling a .444 batting average with 14 doubles, four triples, 20 RBI and 16 steals at the plate.
Wise also spent time playing for the Midwest Nationals in the summer where he went 5-1 with a 2.30 ERA and 39 strikeouts while hitting .358 with 28 runs scored.
