  • Mrs. Ruth Davidson Roark, 84, Anderson, departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, and was blessed to peacefully pass away with her children at her bedside.

  • Mrs. Ruth Davidson Roark, 84, Anderson, departed this life on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, and was blessed to peacefully pass away with her children at her bedside.
    Ruth was born on Dec. 11, 1927, in Hockerville, Okla., to the late James Russell and Edith (Casey) Davidson. She spent her childhood years in rural Anderson, and graduated from Anderson High School in the class of 1945. She was a dental assistant at Camp Crowder in Neosho, during World War II. While in Anderson, she worked as a nurse’s assistant for Dr. Bush. 
    She married Bill Roark on Jan. 29, 1947, in Columbus, Kan. Ruth was foremost a homemaker and devoted mother to her three children.
    Ruth will be welcomed into Heaven by those preceding her in death, beloved husband, Bill Roark on Sept. 30, 1987; beloved son, James “Jim” Roark; an infant daughter, Beth Roark; and two brothers, Russell and Charles Davidson.
    She is survived by her son, William Gary Roark and wife, Linda, Neosho; a daughter, Nancy Roark Villagomez and husband, Pete, Lafayette, La.; four grandchildren, Renee Roark Harvel and husband, Paul, Gainesville, Ga., Rome Roark and wife, Whitney, Seneca, Aimee Villagomez Horton and husband, Stuart, Lafayette, La. and Ross Villagomez, also of Lafayette; and four amazing great-grandsons, Will Roark, Max Roark, Brady Roark all of Seneca, and Jacob Horton of Lafayette; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Roark are 10 a.m. Thursday, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Chaplain Roger Hasselquist officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are, Glen Davidson, J.B. Dill, Steve Kisker and Lee Smith. 
    No formal visitation will be held, but friends may pay their respects from noon until 5 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. 
    In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the National Stroke Association in memory of Ruth to make a difference in the lives of individuals touched by stroke and contributions may be left at the funeral home. 
    The Roark family would like to thank Dr. Craig Pendergrass of Neosho, Gran Villa Assisted Living in Neosho, Spring Hill Assisted Living, also in Neosho, Golden Living Center in Anderson and Avalon Hospice for all of their exceptional care of our beloved mother.
