Jo Ann Swearingen, 77, Rocky Comfort, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at Cox Monett Hospital in Monett.
Mrs. Swearingen, daughter of Charles Killion and Evelyn (Payne) Killion of Rocky Comfort, was born on May 12, 1935, in Rocky Comfort. She was a lifelong resident of Rocky Comfort and graduated from Rocky Comfort High in 1953. Mrs. Swearingen worked in her daughter’s chiropractic office located in Cassville for several years. She was an avid gardener who loved her flowers and animals. She was a member of the Rocky Comfort Church of Christ.
She married Billy Swearingen on Aug. 29, 1953; he survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Danny Swearingen and his wife, Renee, Monett, two daughters, Carol Steinbach and her husband, Danny, Big Cabin, Okla., and Dr. Kristy Montz-Goble and her husband, Carl, Cassville; her mother, Evelyn Killion, Rocky Comfort; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, one nephew, and one niece.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother; and one niece.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at White Funeral Home, Cassville, with Minister J.R. Burr officiating. Burial was at Dice Cemetery, in Fairview.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and entrusted to the White Funeral Home, Cassville.
