  • The Seneca boys basketball team got in the win column on Thursday by pouncing Monett, 63-51, at the Carthage Tournament.
Deadlocked at 13 at the end of the first quarter, the Indians got on a hot streak through the second and third quarters to take a 49-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
Most of that work came in the second quarter when the Indians outscored the Cubs 20-12 behind a pair of key 3-pointers from Daniel Noah and a host of easy transition baskets. The Indians shot the ball well from long distance as Noah finished with three trey’s while Seth Harris hit two and Bradley Jumper one.
Noah, Elias Roelfsema and Jumper each scored 13 points while Jason Mendoza, Kyler Ng and Harris finished with six, Chance Smith four and Logan St. Clair two.
Kyle Woods and Aaron Patton scored 15 apiece for the Cubs.
The Indians (1-1) face Springfield Central at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the consolation game of the Carthage Tournament.
