  • When the Crowder Lady ‘Riders took on Seminole State at Bob Sneller Gymnasium back on Nov. 6, they were missing a key part of their team in Veronica Amos, who missed the game while nursing an injury. Crowder fell that night, 69-66, their only loss this season.
But when the foes squared off again Thursday, this time on the road, Amos was back in a big way. The 6-foot sophomore rattled in 25 points to lead the Lady ‘Riders to a convincing 87-69 win.
This one belonged to Crowder from the start. Their focus was evident in the early going as they built a 48-29 lead at the half and never relented. Now at 10-1 overall, the Lady ‘Riders only seem to be getting stronger as the season progresses.
“I think we’ve gotten better,” Crowder coach Tina Robbins said. “Our kids were focused and very ready to play. We got after it defensively and got out to a good lead. We shot 58.5-percent from the field and a lot of that was a product of layups and short jump shots in the paint.”
Camila Lacerda followed Amos with 16 points while Sarah Sagely had 12, Caprese Marshall 10, Terai Sadler seven, Dorian Briggs six, Chloe Nichols five, Megan Ritter four and Seleena Neal two. Caitlin Miller and Callie Shaver also drew minutes off the bench.
Amos was also a force on defense where she ripped down nine boards and added three steals. Lacerda chipped in six assists and four steals while Sadler also had four steals.
Jennifer Rosado scored 22 points for Seminole while Cherelle Price added 20 and Oulaymato Coulibarly turned in with 17.
On Tuesday, a huge second half comeback propelled the Crowder Lady ‘Riders to their ninth victory in ten tries as they downed Pratt College 80-67 in Pratt, Kan.
Trailing at the half, Crowder came out on fire in the second half and outscored the Lady Beavers 39-28 the remainder of the way.
Sadler had a big game for the Lady ‘Riders as she picked up a double double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Marshall had 17 points while Briggs chipped in 13, Lacerda 12, Amos six, Sagely four, Nichols five and Ritter two.
Lacerda also chipped in seven assists, two blocks and three steals. Amos had two blocks and three steals while Briggs also had three steals.
