SENECA — The 2012 Media All-State football teams were released on Wednesday and one area player, Seneca senior Marty Mailes, has landed on the list as a second team selection.
Mailes, 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, made the selection at linebacker, where he helped anchor an athletic and feisty Indians defense this season.
The honor was one of many for Mailes and a host of his Seneca teammates this week. The Southwest Missouri Football Coaches Association also released its Class 3 All-Area teams and Class 3 All-State teams, which landed a host of Indians on each list. Mailes also picked up second team All-Area honors at linebacker by the Coaches Association, as well as honorable mention running back, and was selected to the first-team All-State at linebacker by the coaches.
The remainder of the All-Area team is comprised of the following Indians:
First team — Braxton Graham (5’8, 150, junior) wide receiver and return specialist. Mac Yust (6’2, 250, junior) offensive line.
Second team — Jalen Skaggs (6’, 170, senior) wide receiver and defensive back. Payton Rawlins (6’2, 180, junior) punter and quarterback.
Honorable mention — Yust at defensive end. Montana Cooper (6’1, 330, senior) defensive tackle. Kaden Schrader (5’10, 195, senior) linebacker. Brett Roark (6’0, 255, senior) offensive tackle. Devin Madison (5’9, 210, junior) offensive guard. Chance Smith (6’2, 155, junior) defensive back. Graham at defensive back. Dalan Merriman (6’, 175, junior) linebacker. Kyler Ng (5’10, 150, senior) defensive back.
Those selected to the Coaches Association All-State team are:
First team — Graham at returner and wide receiver. Mailes at linebacker. Rawlins at quarterback. Skaggs at wide receiver. Yust at defensive end. Roark at defensive line.
Second team — Graham was voted second-team athlete.
