Simply put, Sarcoxie’s Justin Myers just could not be stopped Thursday night.
Despite hanging in the game the entire way, the East Newton Patriots had no answer for Myers, and he poured in 33 points to help lead the Bears to a 54-45 victory at Sarcoxie High School.
The biggest differential in any quarter came in the fourth when the Bears outscored the Patriots 16-10. Through it all, the catalyst was Myers. He hit runners, mid-range jumpers and just about everything else he put in the air.
The Patriots were led by Sam Swartz with 18 points, Bryce Zimmerman with nine, Deion Clark and Payton Cook five, Rocky Liveoak three, Colby Thomas and Owen Bennion two and Aaron Millet one.
East Newton won the junior varsity game, 41-21. Tyler Windsauer led the junior varsity with 14 points.
The Patriots (1-4) entertain Purdy at 6 p.m. tonight.
