Alfred J. Wood, 85, Neosho, died Dec. 7, 2012, at Freeman Neosho Hospital, following a three month illness.
Mr. Wood was born July 5, 1927, in Deep Water, Mo., and moved to Neosho in 1969 from Pittsburg, Kan. He was head groundskeeper at MSSU for many years, retiring in 2002 and was a member of Jehovah Witness Church.
Alfred married LaWanda (Smith) Wood on April 23, 1951, at Independence, Mo., and she preceded him in death on Feb. 5, 2012.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Willey and husband, Patrick, Everett, Wash., and Lisa Willis and husband, Mark, Neosho; six grandchildren, Andrea Booker, Sean Willey, Shannon Willey, April Weems, Nathan Willis and Isaac Willis; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Dunning, Clinton, Mo.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Elder Jim Brock will officiate. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Rob Willis, John Willis, Bob Willis, Fred Dismukes, Rob Metcalfe and Scott Hirshman.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday. The casket will be closed at all times.
