Said coach Tyler Gordon, “We set a goal six weeks ago, and (last weekend) we were able to reach that goal. It’s inspiring to watch these young men be successful in obtaining something for which they have worked so hard. I am excited to be a part of a community that supports our athletic program like what I witnessed at the conference tournament. A big thanks to all of the parents and fans of the wrestling program who were able to drive so far and show so much enthusiasm for our young people.”
Millard, an eighth grader, said, “We did awesome. It was a long day, but we were able to stay focused and seen our goal to the end.”
Ankney, also an eighth grader, was looking forward to the future saying, “I am looking forward to bettering myself for this team when we continue this success in high school.”
Another eighth grader, Trey Smith, added, “I can’t wait to continue wrestling with my brothers in high school next year. (I’m) proud to be a part of this team. We earned it!”
