WEBB CITY — Losing is not something the Neosho Lady Wildcats seventh grade girls basketball team is accustomed to.
But after hammering Carthage 48-3 on Monday, the Lady Wildcats were shocked as their "A" team suffered its first loss of the season on Tuesday, 27-24, to Ozark in the second round of the Central Ozark Conference Tournament at Webb City Junior High.
Despite battling and keeping it close the entire way, the Lady Wildcats came up short thanks to solid defense by the Lady Tigers. To their credit, Ozark managed to slow a high-powered Neosho offense that has consistently blown out opponents this season.
Scorers for the Lady Wildcats against Ozark included Allison Burr with 10 points, Laken Schnackenberg eight, Makayla Hayes five and Ashley Talley two.
On Monday the Lady Wildcats stymied the Lady Tigers in all facets of the game. Emilee Anderson led Neosho in that one with 10 points while Hayes pitched in eight, Burr and Amy Morris six, Talley and Josi Rose four, and Cami Roy, Schnackenberg, Lindsey Linny, Amadiyah Hames and Caitlyn Jordan two apiece.
