  • After a competitive first quarter, the Seneca boys took off in the second behind an 18-point effort and went on to defeat Neosho 57-32 in a varsity basketball game on Tuesday at Neosho High School.
Leading 12-10 at the end of the first quarter, the Indians outscored the Wildcats 18-6 in the second quarter to entrench themselves in the drivers seat. The Indians’ success in the period was driven by 6-foot senior Kyler Ng, who amassed 10 of his game-high 20 points in the quarter.
Ng got the ball rolling with a 3-pointer at the start of the second and followed it with another three and two jumpers. That keyed the Indians’ offense as they continued to pull away the remainder of the game.
Elias Roelfsema turned in 10 points for Seneca while Bradley Jumper added four, Shane Murphy one, Logan St. Clair nine, Isaac Gayer two, Payton Rawlins four, Seth Harris three and Chance Smith four.
Logan Stuart paced the Wildcats with seven points while Lukas Werneke and Brett Williams pitched in six apiece, Caden Hendricks three, and Chris Paullus, Kaden Roy and Andy Lett two.
The Indians (5-2) travel to Miami (Okla.) at 6 p.m. Monday.
Neosho fell to 0-6. The Wildcats travel to Springfield Parkview at 6 p.m. Friday.
