A consistent offensive approach from both teams tipped in Diamond’s favor as the Wildcats blew past Pierce City 63-40 in the Spring River Valley Conference opener on Tuesday at Diamond High School.
The Wildcats scored 14 points in each of the first three quarters, while Pierce City netted seven in each of the same quarters. The Wildcats then exploded for 21 in the fourth to put the game away.
Logan Myers led all scorers with 18 points while Trent Hayes pitched in 14, Ryan Jinks 11, Austin Singleton six, Darren Russow five, Cort Hardy three, and Evan Moreland, Tyler Putman and Brodie Bien two.
“I feel like it was a methodical win for us,” Wildcats coach Brandon Rabel said. “We needed to play well after the loss to Seneca. I think we felt like we needed to emphasize our big men more, and I felt like we did a good job of that.”
The Wildcats (5-2, 1-0 SRVC) travel to Joplin to take on College Heights at 5 p.m. Friday at College Heights Christian School.
