It took two days to complete, but the Neosho and Diamond Lady Wildcats made Monday’s game official on Tuesday as Neosho came away with a 55-26 victory at Diamond High School.
Neosho continued to, shall we say, surge, again on Tuesday after play was suspended the night before with them leading 25-6 in the second quarter when the power suddenly went out. The teams picked up where they left off, however, and Neosho never missed a beat.
Morgan Rathmann, who was well on her way to a big game on Monday, completed the effort with a game-high 18 points to pace Neosho’s offense.
“We got off to a good start (Monday) night,” Neosho coach Lance Robbins said. “I thought we came out again (Tuesday) and kind of picked up where we left off. We played well on the defensive end.
“Morgan Rathmann did a great job (Monday) and again (Tuesday) of stepping up and hitting shots for us when we needed shots. She’s been great all year long and continued to do that tonight. We got good play out of all of our kids. We’re working hard every day and hopefully we’ll continue to get better.”
Neosho (4-3) also got solid performances from Matty Liedtke and Chelsey Henry, who had 10 points each followed by Morgan Rogers with seven, Brooke Stauffer and Corea Lowery four each and Addi Long with two.
Diamond (5-4) was led by Cady Littlefield with nine, Hanna Million five, Macie Seward and Heather Wilson four and Kirsten Eden and Maghen Dresslaer two apiece.
Diamond is at Lockwood at 6 p.m Thursday.
Neosho begins play at the Neosho Holiday Classic on Wednesday.
