Organizers with the annual Neosho Community Christmas Dinner are gearing up the annual event.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Civic in Neosho. It is free and open to the public. Once again, KNEO Radio is sponsoring the event with the assistance of many churches and merchants. The radio station has been doing this event since 2007.
“Our purpose is to provide a place for Neosho area individuals to come and enjoy Christmas dinner with other people,” said Roberta Foster with KNEO. “It is our way of extending the love of Jesus during this season and the best way that we can do that is to love our neighbor is to make sure that everybody that wants to be with other people have a place to do that.”
Those in attendance will receive dinner, along with Christmas music from area musicians and goody bags to take home.
“We have got a very extensive menu, we are going to have, of course, the traditional turkey and ham, baked chicken,” she said. “Something new to our feast is going to be some chicken fajitas and munudo, for those that enjoy a little bit of Mexican flair to their dinner.”
Foster said they are planning on about 550 meals, which also includes delivery to homebound.
“As of right now, we have 45 homebound meals (to do),” she said. “If they need a dinner delivered, we are happy to do that within the Neosho area. Call me at KNEO (451-5636). Deadline is by noon on Monday.”
As the dinner guests leave the dinner, they will receive some goody bags.
“The goody bags will have the old fashioned treats: apple, orange, some candy and chocolates,” Foster said. “There will be goody bags for children as well. then there will also be a gift from KNEO Radio.”
