Jalen Skaggs, Logan Grady and Will Roark went undefeated in their respective weight classes to help lead the Seneca Indians wrestling team to a second place finish at the Kinloch Classic Holiday Tournament at Parkview High School last weekend.

Skaggs, who remains unbeaten at 28-0 this season, turned in one of the more exciting matches when he decisioned Republic’s Kerik Crouse, 9-7, for first place at 160 pounds, dropping Crouse fell to 21-1 overall.  

Roark brought his overall record to 24-1 with a 19-4 tech fall over Bentonville’s Aaron Grigsby, who entered the match at 26-2 overall. Roark then became the first wrestler to stop Sam Hampton of Blue Springs South this season with a 17-2 tech fall for the 120-pound title. Hampton entered the bout 28-0.

Grady improved to 23-2 overall with relative ease when he pinned Carthage’s Tommy Bradshaw, who began the match 17-0, to claim the 145-pound title in 31 seconds.

Grady’s performance accounted for 55 team points while Roark 54 team points for the Indians while Skaggs accounted for 53. That 162-point swing pushed the Indians to the top as they finished ahead of Ozark 360.5-318 for second place.

Carthage won the event handily with 515.5 points, followed by the Indians and Tigers. Completing the 24-team field were: 4th place, Christian Brothers College 306.5; 5, Nixa 304.0; 6-tie, Owensville 273.0; 6-t, Republic 273.0; 8, Bolivar 267.5; 9-t, McDonald County 232.0; 9-t, Willard 232.0; 11, Bentonville 230.0; 12, Kickapoo 224.0; 13, Blue Springs South 223.5; 14, William Chrisman 222.5; 15, Monett 216.5; 16, Central (Springfield) 212.0; 17, Rolla 198.5; 18, Rogersville 192.5; 19, Heritage 162.5; 20, Glendale 152.0; 21, Marshfield 141.5; 22, Hillcrest 129.0; 23, St. James 97.5; 24, Parkview 91.0.

Other individual results for the Indians were: 126 pounds, Cole Lankford (fifth place); 132, Jesse Rhoades (sixth); 152, Butch Ferguson (third); 170, Ryker Skelton (10th); 182, Colton Brown (13th); 195, Dylan West (seventh); 220, Devin Madison (ninth); 285, Dakota Schick (13th).
