Services for Holland Greene Williams, a former long time resident of Neosho, were held Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 in Edmond, Okla.
Holland Williams was born April 14, 1921, in Seneca, and passed away on Dec. 16, 2012, at his home in Sierra Vista, Ariz. He grew up in and around the oil fields of Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1948. On Dec. 8, 1942, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in the artillery division in the European Theater. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 1, 1945.
Holland married Lou Alice Asbury in June 19, 1947. To their union was born a daughter, Donna Jo Williams Weaver, and son, Terry Allen Williams, who survive. Lou passed away in 1973.
Holland and Ann Jones were married in 1975 and made their home in Neosho, until 1987, when they retired to Sierra Vista.
Holland is survived by his wife; two children; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and 10 step-children/grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Don Williams, Joplin and Joe Williams, Tulsa, Okla.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Neosho and the Sierra Vista Baptist Church. A contented man, Holland took great joy in his family and his church family.
Internment with military honors is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Hatfield Funeral Home of Sierra Vista, handled his arrangements there and Buchanans Funeral Services handled internment in Oklahoma City.
