  • A long layoff didn’t harm the Seneca boys basketball team as the Indians jumped out to a big first quarter lead and blew past Galena (Kan.) 60-45 in a varsity boys basketball game on Thursday.
    The Indians imposed their will on the Bulldogs with a pair of big quarters. They jumped out to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter, and went on a 13-4 binge in the third to grab a 51-28 lead entering the fourth.
    The Indians improved to 7-3 overall with the victory.
    “I was real proud of the kids tonight,” Indians coach Will King said. “They came out and played real hard for our first game back, and I’m looking forward to a battle tomorrow in Diamond.”
    Kyler Ng paved the way for the Indians with 16 points while Elias Roelfsema poured in 11, Jason Mendoza two, Bradley Jumper six, Shane Murphy eight, Logan St. Clair five, Seth Harris three, Chance Smith eight and Jordan Austin one.
    Devin Newman led the Bulldogs with 17 points.
    The Indians are at Diamond at 6 p.m. today.
