The Neosho wrestling team brought home a pair of duals victories on Thursday as the Wildcats downed Ozark 54-16 and Nixa 51-14.
Ranked as the No. 42 team in the nation, the Wildcats breezed through the day as they received little resistance from either opponent.
Winners for the Wildcats in that dual were: John Williams, Kyler Rea, Brayden Brookman, River Buttram, Jason Box, Chance Branstetter, Garrick Fausett, Jacob Brock, with Christian Lopez and Aaron Clardy receiving open victories.
Winners for the Wildcats against the Eagles were: Williams (open), Rea, Dakota McGarrah, Branstetter, Fausett, Hailey (open), Brock, Ben Elledge (open), Lopez and Clardy.
Wildcats junior varsity winners against the Tigers were: Kirschner, Montana Drum, Peter Elwise, Juan Franco and Addison Derryberry. Victors against the Eagles were: Toby Friend, Kirschner, Cody Rains, Dakota Vance, Franco, P. Elwise, Rexi Elwise, Derryberry and Cody Fox.
Wildcats coach Jeremy Phillips was pleased with the Wildcats’ performance after coming off of a duals loss to Collinsville (Okla.) last week, 33-28.
“We wrestled very well at some weights and showed some substantial growth with opponents we had wrestled (previously),” Phillips said. “Regardless of how wrestled tonight, we must look to learn from it and grow.”
The Wildcats are back on the mats tonight when they host Westminster Christian and Monett for a double dual at NHS starting at 5 p.m. Tonight is also Elementary School Night and WXT Youth Night.
