  • The Diamond girls jumped out to an early lead and made it stick as the Lady Wildcats downed Monett 37-31 in a varsity basketball game on Thursday at Diamond High School.

  • The Diamond girls jumped out to an early lead and made it stick as the Lady Wildcats downed Monett 37-31 in a varsity basketball game on Thursday at Diamond High School.
    The Lady Wildcats grabbed a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and held on with a 17-13 advantage at the half. They stretched their lead to 30-19 after a solid third quarter, and then held off a late surge by the Lady Cubs to come away with the victory.
    Cady Littlefield led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points while Heather Wilson chipped in nine, Macie Seward had five, Hanna Million five, Kirsten Eden two and Lauren Olson two.
    Haylee Morris led the Lady Cubs with 15 points.
    Diamond (7-4) entertains East Newton at 6 p.m. Monday for Pink Out Night, a night devoted to supporting cancer awareness.
    Monett won the junior varsity game, 32-16. Megan Dresslaer paced Diamond with eight points.
