Two new seats have opened up on the Seneca Special Road District and Seneca Area Fire Protection District, as one member from each board has decided to step down.
Each board already had one position open, which prospective candidates can currently file to run for in the April election.
However, the boards now each have one unexpired term to fill before the election as well.
The Seneca Area Fire Protection District is saying goodbye to member Max Keller, who is stepping down from his position after 23 years of service.
He leaves an unexpired term of four years.
The unexpired term will be filled by appointment. Those interested in seeking that seat may contact fire chief Ray Lankford at 456-2441.
There is no deadline to apply, though that position will be filled as soon as possible.
The fire protection district also has one regular six-year term up for grabs in the April 2 election.
Prospective candidates may file for that position now through Jan. 15 at the Newton County Clerk's office in the Newton County Courthouse, on week days during regular business hours.
The Seneca Special Road District is also seeking an interested party to assume the unexpired term of commissioner Steve Adams.
Adams has served the district since April 2012.
This unexpired, two-year term will also be filled by appointment.
Interested parties may call 451-2505.
The road district also has a regular three-year term expiring in April.
Interested candidates may also file with the Newton County Clerk's office through Jan. 15.
