After a lights-out shooting performance against Seneca on Thursday, the Carl Junction Lady Bulldogs were hot from the floor again on Friday as they knocked down their shots, and the Neosho Lady Wildcats, 59-48.
It wasn’t as if Neosho’s defense could pinpoint any one player to try and stop, either. The Lady Bulldogs spread their production evenly as five of the six players to score for them finished in double figures. A hot team of late, the Lady Bulldogs have now won three games in a row.
“They shot the ball well tonight,” Lady Wildcats coach Lance Robbins said. “For the most part we did a pretty good job defending them, they just knocked down their shots and we weren’t able to finish.”
The Lady Wildcats (6-8) fought back from a 15-7 first quarter deficit by winning the scoring battle in both the second and third quarters. They took a one point lead with just over three minutes remaining in the game before a three-point play late in the fourth quarter gave Carl Junction some momentum.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored Neosho 19-9 in the fourth quarter.
Of the five players who scored in double figures, Bryce Boyd finished with 13 points for the Lady Bulldogs (6-9) while Sydney Koch and Maria Chism added 12, Brenlee McPherson 11 and Katie Skaggs 10. Bradyn Wall had one point.
Chelsey Henry and Corea Lowery teamed up to lead the Lady Wildcats with 10 points each while Morgan Rogers and Matty Liedtke rattled in eight, Morgan Rathmann seven and Brooke Stauffer five.
Carl Junction also won the junior varsity game 45-28. Stauffer led the Lady Wildcats with 14 points.
Neosho travels to East Newton at 6 p.m. Monday.
