The Neosho eighth grade basketball teams swept a pair of games from the Seneca Indians on Friday.
Neosho’s “A” team thumped the Indians 33-14 behind a 12 point effort from Ethan Siler. Jon Moser added eight points in the victory while Bryce Murphy turned in six, Colton Marion two, Coleman Scott two, Connor Jackson two and Garett Weber one.
“During the first half we played the best team basketball of the season,” Wildcats coach Josh Depoe said. “We shared the ball and made the extra pass.
“Ethan, Jon and Bryce all played big tonight, and hopefully they can carry it over to next week’s games.”
The Neosho “B” team, meanwhile, eked out a 30-26 victory over the Indians. James Leonard, Payton Klier and Shelby Hughes led the way for the Wildcats as Klier pitched in nine points while Leonard and Hughes had eight each. Spencer Beardon tossed in four points and Nathan York added one for the Wildcats.
“These three guys (Leonard, Klier and Hughes) are the catalysts for our ‘B’ team,” Depoe added.
Neosho’s “A” team is now 1-3 on the season while the “B” squad improved to 2-1. Both teams are back on the court at Carthage on Monday.
