After a close first quarter, the Southwest Lady Trojans dominated the remainder of the way as they downed the Seneca girls 55-24 in a varsity basketball game at Southwest High School on Monday.
Southwest maintained a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter before kicking it into another gear the rest of the way. The Lady Trojans scored 18 second quarter points to stretch the lead to 32-18 at the half.
They went on to hold Seneca to six points in the second half — four in the third quarter and two in the fourth — to close it out.
Annie Howard led the Lady Indians with eight points while Mirana Heath turned in five, Courtney Cook three, Molli Cooper three, Bailey Skelton three and Rachel Butterfield two.
The Lady Indians weren’t helped in losing one of their top offensive threats in the third quarter when Cooper was forced to leave the game with a facial injury.
