The Neosho seventh grade boys basketball team turned in an impressive victory on Monday as they downed Branson, 37-28, at the Central Ozark Conference Tournament at Carthage.
The Wildcats, the No. 4 seed, stopped the fifth-seeded Pirates behind a big night from Yeej Lee, who turned in 17 points and five steals for the Wildcats. Brady Wise followed Lee with eight points and four steals while Zach Jennings tossed in five points, Jarvis Funk had two points and four steals, Gavin Kelley and Hank Selig both had two points, Keilan Moore added three steals, and Jared Scribner tallied four steals.
The Wildcats pulled out to a 9-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched it to 21-14 at the half.
“Keilan and Jarvis got a lot of deflections in the first quarter,” Wildcats coach Tony Branscum said. “They did a great job in our press. Hank gave us valuable minutes tonight. He was very active in the back of our zone.”
The Wildcats will take on the top-seed at the tournament, Ozark, in the semifinals tonight in Carthage.
