The Way I See It
My name is Dennis Miller and I am a lifelong resident of Kirksville, MO. I have been totally blind since birth and a sports fanatic just as long. I like all sports but love baseball and am a proud lifelong member of Cardinal Nation. It is my honor to be given the opportunity to write a blog for the Kirksville Daily Express and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

The Truman State men’s and women’s basketball teams swept a double header against Nebraska Kearney on Thursday night with the women winning by twelve points while the men were able to post a one point victory with a three pointer with seven seconds left in the game.  The Truman women continue to play good team basketball and have now won twelve straight games at home.  The men finally came out on the winning side of a close game after coming up just a couple of points short so many other times this year.  Both teams will be back in action at Pershing on Saturday facing Ft. Hays State.

The Missouri Tigers men’s basketball team is in action on Saturday as well as they face Vanderbilt at Mizzou Arena.  Vanderbilt has certainly struggled this year and are a much better team at home than they are on the road but Missouri is going to have to play much better than they have played the last week and a half to get a victory.  The Tigers have yet to show me they can handle adversity and need to do whatever it takes to start playing more consistent basketball and get back to where they were earlier this season or the final month and a half of the season is not going to be kind to them.

The Kirksville High School wrestling team heads to Quincy on Saturday for what has always been a good tournament.  I’m sure they will come back with many first place finishes.

Unless you count the Pro Bowl, (which I don’t) there is no NFL action this weekend for the first time since Labor Day weekend.  I wonder every year why the Pro Bowl exists since nobody seems to care including the people playing in it.  The NFL might want to consider giving up on the concept unless they can come up with some way of making it more meaningful.

We’ll be back on Monday with a review of this weekend’s sport action and a look ahead to another busy week in sports.  Thanks as always for supporting this blog and all the other blogs on this site.

Have a great weekend!
