After going on the road and beating up Jefferson College 77-53 a week ago, the Crowder women welcomed the Lady Vikings to town on Saturday … and walloped them even worse this time around, 90-52.
Not a bad way to celebrate alumni day, eh?
The Lady ‘Riders welcomed past players to town and handled their business in front of a large crowd at Bob Sneller Gymnasium with ease.
“We played Jefferson last Saturday and beat them pretty handily, so you’re, as a coach, always concerned that you might take them lightly,” Crowder coach Tina Robbins said. “(Our team) did a good job of coming out and playing hard and not taking them lightly.”
You don’t say?
The Lady ‘Riders had this one in the bag by halftime as they led 42-19. Sophomore Terai Sadler dominated the Lady Vikings with 33 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals. Camila Lacerda also had a solid performance with 20 points, six boards and six assists.
Also scoring for Crowder was Sarah Sagely with 11 points, followed by Caprese Marshall with 10, Seleena Neal nine, Caitlin Miller three and Dorian Briggs and Megan Ritter with two each. Neal also had seven boards while Sagely tallied six. Sagely also had five steals.
Vanessa Winston led the Lady Vikings with 21 points.
“We got off to a little bit of a slow start in the first five to seven minutes,” Robbins said. “Then we started to pick it up offensively and kind of went on a run.”
Crowder (20-4) shot 50-percent (32-for-64) from the floor as a team and went 20-for-28 from the free throw line. They also combined for 17 steals as a team.
The Lady ‘Riders are back in action on Wednesday when they host Iowa Western at 6 p.m.
