  • Diamond eclipsed the .500-mark for the season in relative easy fashion on Tuesday in a girls Spring River Valley Conference varsity showdown at Golden City High School.
The Lady Wildcats (11-10, 3-2 SRVC) never trailed at the end of any quarter and used a 22-7 burst in the third quarter to put the Lady Eagles away, 57-24.
Leading 12-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats outscored Golden City 16-8 in the second to take a 28-15 lead at the half. They dominated the third quarter, however, and Golden City couldn’t recover.
“I thought we played pretty well tonight,” Lady Wildcats coach Brian Brimacombe said. “We had good balance and went out there and took care of business like we needed to.”
Cady Littlefield led Diamond with 24 points. Hanna Million followed with 13 points, while Shayla Jones had two, Macie Seward four, Asia Mahan two, Kirsten Eden two, Lauren Olson two and Maghen Dresslaer eight.
Diamond won the junior varsity game, 14-4, in two quarters.
The Lady Wildcats entertain Liberal at 6 p.m. Friday.
