Hope Marlene Drake, 68, Anderson, was called to Heaven on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at her residence.
Hope was born April 15, 1944, in McDonald County, Missouri, daughter of the late Chester and Ruby (Dean) Epperson.
On July 13, 1961, she married Ivan Drake and to this union two children were born.
Hope enjoyed Christmas very much and filled her home every year with decoration both inside and out. She enjoyed canning, working every year to see how much food she could put up from her garden. Hope was a very big fan of John Wayne and had many collectibles of his around the house, he was second only to her family and husband who she loved spending time with and caring for. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Hope was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Nova Epperson, Carol Sue Epperson, Twyla Plummer, Oleta Bond, Goldie Lee Epperson and brothers; Chester Jr. and Merle "Sonny" Epperson.
Hope is survived by her husband Ivan; a son, Rick Drake and girlfriend, Beth Baker, Neosho; a daughter, Patsy Baldwin and husband, Steve, Anderson; a sister, Marlyn Hodson and husband, Harvey, Anderson; four grandchildren, Allen Bedell and girlfriend, Julie Clay, Anderson, Nick Butts, Anderson, Andy Baldwin and girlfriend, Kristen, Columbus, Ohio, and Austin Drake, Neosho; three great-grandchildren; Gabrial, Gavin and Gaelinn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Francis Drake, Harold and Doris Drake, Wallace and Retha Craig, Bud and Dorlene Drake, David Drake, Joe Plummer, Melvin Bond and Ralph Booth, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of cousins and loving friends.
A memorial dinner will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, at the New Bethel Church west of Anderson. Friends and family are invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be given to The Mayo Clinic or The American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
