The Neosho Lady Wildcats went on the road to take on Ozark for a Central Ozark Conference showdown on Thursday.
The game was originally slated to be a home game for the Lady Wildcats, but a scheduling flap had Ozark marking the game at their place for homecoming. The Lady Wildcats instead accommodated Ozark, but the Lady Tigers didn’t return the favor as they downed Neosho, 59-25.
Perhaps the emotions of homecoming had something to do with the Lady Tigers’ strong night from the floor. They scored 18, 17 and 22 points in the first three quarters to build a 57-21 lead by the end of the third quarter.
A bulk of the Lady Tigers’ damage came at the hands of three players as Hannah Cook, Haylee Beard and Jackie Fugate did the heavy lifting offensively. Cook wound up leading the team with 19 points while Beard rattled in 17 and Fugate 14.
For Neosho, Chelsey Henry tallied 10 points, while Morgan Rogers had eight, Brooke Stauffer six and Emily Harrell one.
Ozark also won the junior varsity contest, 55-28. Stauffer led the Lady Wildcats with nine points.
Neosho (8-13, 0-3 conference) travels to Branson for another conference game at 6 p.m. Monday.
