  • GRANBY — During Tuesday's meeting, the Granby City Council heard about a water study grant from TJ Whitley with Olsson Associates of Springfield.
    "All that I can say is that it pays for engineering expenses that we may need to get the water study done to find out what we need done to improve our water system," said Paula Carsel, city clerk. "It is waterlines, they are old, and they break all of the time."
    The council authorized Whatley to do the paperwork for the grant. Carsel will assist him.
    "We have to have it in to [the DNR] by March 15," she said.
    In other news, the council:
    • Hired Christina Borstadt as a school crossing guard "She is there in the morning to cross the kids across the highway (60) and then bring them back across from the school to the north side of town," Carsel said.
    • Hired Don Slaughter as recycling center operator, and;
    • Tabled the cemetery mower maintenance bill until next meeting.
